Says the guy who already owns an iPhone 4. Easier to make such bold statements when you currently own one.

Is it? I've seen my share of bold in my day. Was mine that radical?

If I were a Verizon customer (I used to be, by the way), due for an upgrade, would the unlimited data plan be enough of an incentive to sign today, or would I prefer potential GSM/CDMA interoperability? If I travel a lot, I'd wait and see. Do I want the chance for 4G capability before my contract expires? What other improvements can Apple make to such an amazing phone? I'm not sure, but will they be worth paying full price on upgrade if I lock into a 2-year contract today?

The timing on the release of the Verizon iPhone is peculiar and I just think there are scores of excited Verizon customers who just haven't given Apple's annual upgrade to the phone any thought. I'm telling all my friends to hold on a little longer. Those already using a smart phone really are the least impacted by the release - so for you guys at least ... unless you have money to burn, why NOT just wait a few more months? :apple:

Wow.. I have to admit I was skeptical that they would run out...

Now I feel a little more vindicated getting up at 3am....:):):):)

Why would you be skeptical? You need to pull your head out of AT&T's %$$ and look around to realize that Verizon is HUGE!

No, you're comments were ignorant- at best. If you can say things like that but you can't handle responses to your impish comments, then why start?

I mean, I understand your entire existence, identity and personality is tied to AT&T and your cell phone, and you must surely be proud of that. But why come into a thread titled "Verizon sold out of iPhones" and mouth off?

Really. What is the reason? You had nothing constructive to say did you?

Because it's funny to me that everyone else but me knows how my experience with AT&T should be.

if your comparing AT&T Edge to Verizon 3g, then duh, yeah it would be. But its proven that 3G to 3G where both networks are not over saturated that AT&T consistently scores higher on speed. Over 50%.

If you want to show "tests" then make it a fair test, dont handicap on phone to get the result you want.

No. We were comparing Att to a Verizon CDMA Droid X (Verizon's 3G). YOu wait and see; Videos like the CNet comparison are going to be popping up everywhere. Then we will see

Interesting how the At&t kids were saying that the V iphone will not sell out and how VZW website will crash within the first few minutes going live with teh launch... Its also Interesting to know that these same people that doubted VZW to announce the iphone on 1-11-2011...

At&t fanbois = Wrong...

Verizon will never reach that amount of Pre orders and iPhones that AT&T has, so the big question is if they are sold out, how many did they have to offer to begin with, if it is less than 1 million, whoopee.

AT&T is still the leader and will be no matter what as their 3G is the fastest in the USA and iPhones are data hungry,Verizon may sell a few million, but do not expect everyone to leave AT&T for VZ, not going to happen.

Anticipated ship date   Feb 4, 2011
Estimated delivery   Feb 7, 2011 by 3:00 PM
Nice.

So the sites didn't crash...

And they sold out in 17 hours...

And phones will be in customers hands in 3 days, over a weekend?

What a crap way to run a business.

Already shipped and trackable...

Looks like the phones were already pre-staged in the US somewhere and not shipping from overseas as some have speculated. I got a tracking number email from UPS overnight that shows an origin scan in West Chester, Pa. which is only about an hour from where I live. Unless they're holding them in a UPS facility before the 10th, I should have this phone no later than Monday, if not today.

For those of you trying to determine ship order, etc... my order number was just over 6000 and I got mine through at about 3:05 AM Eastern yesterday. I'll keep tracking, I may actually see this phone at my doorstep tonight!

All the sniping ...

Sheesh people, it's a freaking phone ... give it rest. Don't we have enough chaos and fighting in Cairo? Now we have to put up with the Verizon vs. ATT customers sniping at each other? Get a grip.

HAHAHAHAH..I just have to laugh at some of these posts. Very amusing. I just don't get it. Someone please let me in on it. So what does it matter if it took 4 years for the iphone to go to Verizon? What does it really matter how many iphones AT&T sold on launch day vs. Verizon? Does it make one better then the other? Really I'm curious? All this.....bickering going back and forth over what...a phone? LOL I don't know i just find it very funny. I'm on AT&T, and that's because that's the service that works best for me in my area. I am no AT&T "fanboy", hell I'm def not an "apple fanboy" either. Sorry like i said i just find it all very funny...over a phone.
Congrats to all Verizon peeps getting the iphone. Welcome to the Fam

WRONG!!!!

Verizon is, in fact, FASTER. Cnet did a test and it was faster in 14 out of the 16 tests done . I live in the mid-west and it is faster here too. See the Cnet video. And just wait. There will be videos popping up all over the internet comparing the two. What will you say when Verizon is found to be faster overall?

I think you missed the part where VZW is allowing pre-orders to existing customers ONLY... lets see how it goes when Verizon officially launches the iphone to everyone....

Congrats on waiting 4 years for the iphone

Many of us have been using the iPhone on T-Mobile USA since the very first iPhone was released. One can either hack the iPhone to unlock it, or buy an official factory unlocked version from overseas.

Give up, I've pointed that out twice in this thread. People still seem to think that this is indicative some how of Verizon's popularity (or AT&T's unpopularity) vs. the iPhone's popularity.

But yeah, I agree, this was just a sell out of people who already had Verizon who wanted iPhones but not willing to give up Verizon for the phone (Probably the sensible people rather than the people whining about AT&T coverage who still chose to deal with it for the phone. I mean I like AT&T but if they don't cover your area, they shouldn't have been a consideration for you).

What would be interesting for the pre-sell is how many of those people had androids that now switched to iphones *grin*.
