The guys over at engadget are having a field day over this. A lot of talk about things like multi-tasking, Camera, and the openness or lack there of the OS.

I like the phones verizon offers as does my wife. ATT phones, IMO, are lousy.
Couple friends may be leaving the iphones behind to better cater to their families when googe picks up the G phone.
The G phone may not be a better phone but he family will be happier with the wider selection of verizon phones.

In 2 years I can see a more level field and the rave over iphone killers and whatever else will be a nontopic.
Apple may have invented the wheel of smart phones but the design is out ad now all the others have to do is tune their OS.

The ramp in sales and technology don't favor Apple. Meaning it will be harder for apple to maintain the market share as the other players start introducing iphones that are more like iphones and instead of trying to reinventing the wheel just improving on it and exploiting any lackings the iphone may have..

I agree that the iPhone isn't the end all and be all. I also agree that there are plenty of perfectly adequate phones on verizon and their selection of phones overall is better than AT&T's, but you could probably find phones on either carrier that would meet mot people's needs.

The iphone has a significant lead that the other manufacturers haven't been able to compete with yet and they haven't been able to effectively play catch up in the last two years. Their software is inadequate (including app stores), the hardware is better in some features, but the actual user experience of the phones is still generally behind the iPhone in significant ways (not counting, y'know, the network). And they're behind in marketing and branding.

They will catch up, though, and likely surpass, but it'll be a game of leapfrog when they do get there. Other manufacturers who may have longer feature lists and some nicer specs on paper will still lose (look at the mp3 player market over the last decade).

I know If your a apple Fan or a att fan your gonna get downranked in a flash.

As I stated before Verizons Phones espcailly there basic Phones Suck If you wanna use bluetooth for anything important good luck with that. I live in Nashville and the coverage for 3G is crap at best I get 2 bars maybe 3, my dad on the other hadn has a full set of 3g on att oh and if you want to switch plans or downgrade on Verizon expect to sign on another 2 year contract. yeah we found that out the hard way.

Wasn't Verizon Apple's first choice to begin with? It would make sense, if you get an exclusive contract you'd go for the carrier with the most customers.

Well it's too bad, because

iPhone leads in satisfaction for consumer, business smartphone users

BTW, you want visual voice mail? Verizon has a fee for that.

Want to get or figure out how to use Verizon's visual voice mail? There is a over seven hundred word (>700) document on that.
http://wirelesssupport.verizon.com/features/calling_features/visual_voice_mail.html?t=3
Looking at what I have with ATT compared to what verizon charges for similar services we might be talking a large cup of coffee with a muffin at dunkin donuts.

ah the iphone vvm how to is about 424 words without any amplifying info.

Maybe I am missing the point

Actually SBC sucked them both up.

I played around with the HTC Hero and didn't like the interface or the feel of the phone. I am happy with the iPhone.

Good ad, and surprisingly truthful. More competitors need to start calling out the iPhones more serious flaws, so apply may in fact fix them.

Problem with that is people are seriously impressed with what the iPhone does and how it does them.

**** just got real! Good ad! Although people complaining about physical keyboards are annoying. I type faster on the iPhones keyboard than on some stupid env2 for VZW anyday. I just typed this whole post up in 30secs just goes too show how apple does a good job with it's UI. though I do like android allot and expect it to make big market changes in terms of the iPhone "runnin' dis shiz" tell forever ..

Verizon: there's a map for that and it's shaped like the US, everywhere else be monsters.

Seriously, CDMA? Talk about limited coverage...

Good ad,

But I have switched from an Andriod device, to iPhone and personally I prefer it because of the stability.

Great multitasking on Andriod, but no way easy way to close apps made it freeze and lag. Alot.

Lets see some real competitors come out!
Then iPhone 4G will have to be GREAT!

Which is fine, because the iPhone does certain things really well. But if enough of these ads come out, people may in fact realize that the iPhone still has room for improvement.
