I use an otterbox with no reception issues.

These sales guys- some are great, some are told to intentionally misinform customers, some genuinely don't have a clue. He may have been asked to pimp a certain brand of case over otterbox via a vendor.

I was at the t-mobile store a few weeks back helping my girl pick out a new phone and those sales guys were awful. I heard one of them telling a customer that android was better because "all the apps are free, but on an iPhone the same apps will cost you $5-$10." if you have a mobile OS preference that is fine, but spreading misinformation like that shouldn't even be legal.

I agree. T mobile reps are totally uneducated. I walked out of two stores and will never go back.

It would be logical that anything coving the antennas on the iPhone would affect the RF propagation of the device. The amount lost is the critical point. Most would not notice if in a good coverage area.

YES... I discovered that day when received my Defender... so bad could not receive LTE signal with XsMAX in a Defender case... although the Otterbox Statesman case works fine....
false ! the XS just plains sucks when it comes to reception it's not the case causing the problems

I know this post has been on since 2012. I just bought the Otterbox defender screenless Edition for the iPhone 11 (not the Pro) and had signal attenuation issues. I made a comparison with the Speck Presidio Pro and the signal with it is strong. When I removed the defender case, I saw the bars going all the way up and with LTE.

It is supposed that the defender case is just plastic and rubber, but for some reason it attenuates the signal.

Hope this helps
