(Verizon) Upgrade eligible exactly on 2/10, preorder with subsidized price allowed?

On the other hand I would be STOKED if apple's was $599, I talked to a representative 40 mins ago and she said she honestly didn't know since it wasn't released to her yet, but that she was damn near certain that you can pre-order feb 3rd on both verizon AND apple website. What do you mean exactly by an early upgrade price? I guess I may be mis-understanding that term then as I only know of 2 prices- $199/$299 or $599/$699 ($649/$749). I have never seen mention of a $399/$499 price.

Oh i think I see what you're saying. You are due an upgrade in April but, if you order now you can purchase it for $399/$499. I had not heard that before. All I've heard is "I'm not due until March and I have to pay $699 WHY?". I am not due until October which would explain why I have not seen it. That is odd though, I've never seen that on a Verizon phone before. Just saying.

What I mean by that is that Verizon has never given us an early upgrade discounted price on a phone ever in 10 years before the 20th month. It was either full or nothing. However if you were 20 months in you would get the full discount. And I guess they are doing away with that "incentive" so I'll have one left in October to use.

I added a edit to my post before I saw this one pop up. But like i said I am like 99.999999% sure I saw those prices on my line thats due April. Idk if it changed since the product release day or not, but as of tonight mine now also says 199/299 and 599/699... I really hope those prices hold up so I can save that $50

LMAO my bad.. I am actually very happy to see the 599 price point. That means I can buy a bumper and the phone for cheaper from Apple than just buying retail from Verizon. And for a little more get a full body invisible shield. I'll even wait a week If I have too

haha no worries dude, you are a better man than i. if i cant pre-order through apple i guess ill just end up shelling out the extra $50 and ordering from verizon. i am extremely impatient as you might be able to tell. and call me crazy but i might even get overnight shipping on b*tch!

I think we'll be good on pre-ordering from Apple. But, I guess we'll see. For all we know Verizon may throw us a bone and give existing customers only a $50 discount on the retail pre-order like it's some massive treat. Doubt it though.

Where the F(*& is that email we were supposed to get from Verizon a week before the pre-order? It would make all this SH*& easier for all of us.

I usually would pull the trigger, but realistically this 3 year old dumb phones only been in my main use since I sold my iPhone 4 from AT&T last month and switched my line over. So I can wait an extra week, and use the little savings on bumper or towards iPad 2.

No worries man we're all just trying to figure it out since Verizon won't. But, let me ask, if you're eligible in April and still going to go full retail? Don't get me wrong, if you can do it go for it. But, that's dedication.

what made you leave at&t? and please tell me why you need an iphone AND and ipad 2?! it just seems like iOS over kill to me

Heh. I sold my iPad to fund the iPhone we had 2 32GB iPads (one for me, one for the wife) I said screw it here comes the iPhone. I only had that iPad for like 30 days :). I liked it but, having 2 in the house was overkill.

Im rocking an old enV that shuts off every 5 minutes or whitescreens while on a call, and this last month i've truly missed my iPhone. So i figure i'll pay full retail for 16gb iphone4 and sell it in a few months and lose a little $and then buy top model iPhone 5 on a 1 year contract which will set me up with perfect upgrade time for new model every year.

The reason I will probably end up getting another iPad (iPad 2) is because I'm a Photo Retoucher for a living and it did make a sweet little portable portfolio. But, this is the slow season right now and I said - see ya! All I was using it for was browsing right now. So when the biz picks back up I'll pick up an iPad 2 and then fight with my wife over it :).

No particular reason for leaving AT&T besides because of problems with people on my plan. In fact, I had pretty good 3G after we got some cell tower upgrades. Certain points of the day i'd pull down 2-3 megs. I'm not actually sure i'll get that with verizon, but its more consistent while roaming around here.

As for the iPad 2, I might as well enjoy the technology while i'm here. Its fun. Plus like a lot of people, I prefer to use the iPad while at home. I've had it since release day and it still grows on me more and more. And with facetime on the iPad 2, while gone I can leave it with my mom or dad and use it for some fun.

That's my exact plan too. I may get the 32GB though. Sell this POS Droid. Get the iPhone, sit on my October upgrade and see what happens around summer time or the winter. Then eventually upgrade and sell the ViPhone 4.

I'd get 32 gig if I wasn't only keeping it for like 3-4 months. On i5 i'll get the 32gb, or maybe 64 if its available but I have my doubts on that. Unless iPad goes to 128 already, then 64 seems reasonable. Heres to hoping lol
