Sorry if I'm posting this int he wrong place, but for those of you on Verizon who upgraded at the Apple Store/through Apple, did the upgrade fee say $20? I could have sworn it said $20 but my Verizon bill is showing $40. Just want to make sure I'm not trippin' before disputing the charge with Verizon customer care.

I have Verizon. My upgrade fee was $40 too. My iphone order from Apple specifically stated a $20 upgrade charge.

I think they only give you the deal of $0 or $20 if you do the order online for VZW instore pickup

Yeah, I'm aware that Verizon does discount their upgrade fee when doing instore pick up at their locations/ordering through their app, but when I was accepting the terms and providing my signature at the apple store, I am pretty sure I saw $20 upgrade fee. I believe the apple store employee even said it out loud.

BUT!! I could be mistaken. just making sure I am mistaken first. lol

Wait, let me get this right. If you have a VZW data plan only, and you get the phone through Apple Upgrade Program - VZW will charge you an upgrade fee?

Yeah this is the one thing I just can't stand about Verizon. The thought of it seriously boils my blood. I just bought a phone from you, I took the SIM card out of my old phone and put it in the new one and you're going to charge me $40 for..... what again?

A Verizon corporate exec somewhere, probably: what are you gonna do about it?

I just switched to Verizon from T-Mobile and have $200 of activation fees on my first bill (5 devicesx$40).

Not a great start.
May I ask why you switched. Same. I have $in activation fees, not as bad as you. I am thinking of going back to Tmobile ASAP.

How on earth can they get away with this? People are charged a fee for upgrading their device? My god our carriers in the US are so freaking awful. That is absolutely disgraceful.

Just switched to Verizon from ATT, but still waiting for iphone 12 coming so my 4 lines can be activated. I was told by Verizon sale rep. I should call Verizon to see if they can wave/remove activation fee ($160). After reading this thread. Not sure about this.

It wouldn't hurt to call. IMHO, it's best to call them after your first bill generates, otherwise they most likely won't offer to waive/credit the activation fees. The worst VZW can say is no. If no is the answer, call back and try again.

Same. I was excited to switch to VZW at first. But 2 activation fees of $80, then upgrading via Apple upgrade another $40 fee. Joke. T-Mobile was very good to me, I must say. Their coverage wasn’t as A+ as VZW, but now looking back not sure the switch was worth it. I might switch back honestly.

I purchased my phone directly through apple.com via apple credit card and will be delivered tomorrow. you telling me Verizon will still charge an activation fee even though the phone wasn't purchased through them?

Did you get the SIM free version or the Verizon version? If it’s SIM free, no you won’t get charged for swapping SIMs as I was on Verizon and did that with the 11 Pro last year. If you bought the VZW version where you have to activate it, then you will get charged.

Do you Have to go through the steps on their website to switch devices if you’re just moving the sim?

Nope, that’s why you don’t get charged the upgrade/activation fee. Just pop out your SIM, put it in the new phone, turn it on and it should be good to go.

I moved homes and I got 5 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up at my new house even though T-Mobile’s site says I should have excellent service. Sometimes the uploads are so slow (0.1 Mbps). This wasn’t the case in my last home.

T-Mobile just turned on the capability for customers to manually switch their radio to the Sprint network and after trying that, it wasn’t any better. So T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T both suck where I live.

I lost home internet for 30 minutes the other day and I was supposed to have a work meeting. I couldn’t get a stable connection from my T-Mobile iPhone hot spot so I left.

My first bill with Verizon is going to be $440 (includes $200 in activation fees). My previous bill with T-Mobile was $140.

I’m hoping T-Mobile gets their act together where I live because I’d drop Verizon and their sleazy tactics real quick.
