Looking for some real world feedback on signal strength in above area.

I am currently on ATT and have great coverage most everywhere I go. Including deep inside Wright-Patterson AFB hospital. And, on any trips I have taken outside this area. But, inside Krogers Marketplace in Fairborn, off Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd, I have no signal. The area seems to be a very poor reception area even though ATT's coverage map shows it as good LTE. I have used the MAP It App many times and posted to ATT Twitter. I will have to call ATT, but doubt they would do anything.

The reason this irks me is I do most the shopping as wife is handicapped. As with any husband, I always seem to need to call/text her on the grocery list while in the store. But, can't call/text out anywhere inside the store. Outside is usually very poor 4g.

I would like to know if any Verizon users have similar issues in this area.

Also, how will my X and wife's iPhone 6 and son's 7 work on Verizon. I understand the GSM/CDMA stuff. So, assuming they will work fine as long as Verizon has GSM in that area.

I know this will be a very narrow group for advice. But, any input appreciated.

Also, didn't see any other Forum to more appropriately post this. If so, MODS can move.

While I can't address the direct problem, my aunt and uncle who have recently retired to FL, spent their lives at Wright Pat. They used Verizon and never had any problems. They still use it. I'm probably going to with from ATT to VZW in the fall for the new iPhone.

What was weird is that a year ago I had poor ATT coverage at the base hospital on my 6s Plus. I buy my X and think wow this is great. Full bars everywhere in the hospital. But, then realize my wife's iphone 6 is great too. I think they did something with the towers around the base or on the hospital roof. Not sure if that means Verizon would not be as good. My X is an A1865. So, it supports CDMA. Just not the wife's and son's.

I checked Verizon coverage for 4g LTE and shows available most places in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

As stated, this one area in town is horrible and the only place I go with poor ATT signal.

How would I go about trying to get ATT to boost signal in that area. Is it as simple as tweaking a tower. I doubt if a CSR would be any help.

So, I went to Verizon to do a 30 day prepaid trial to test Verizon in the areas above that I have poor signal before I make any switch of carriers with all my iPhones. ATT locked my iPhone to them even though I bought this unlocked from Best Buy. Model A1865.

I requested an unlock from their Unlock Portal and it was approved.

Here are the instructions:

Unlock instructions:
Using a Non-AT&T SIM Card:

1. Remove your SIM card and insert the new SIM card.

2. Complete the setup process.

Using an AT&T SIM Card:

1. Back up your iPhone.

2. When you have a backup, erase your iPhone.

3. Restore your iPhone from the backup you just made.

Contact Apple support if you have additional questions.

1. Anyway around unlocking without erasing/restoring with the existing ATT sim.

I may not get back to Verizon in the near future to put their sim in to unlock. I don't know if this unlock from ATT has a time limit.

2. If I use the ATT sim to unlock, will putting my ATT sim back in have my iPhone working as it did before unlocking.

3. Can you test to see if a phone is unlocked without trying another sim?

Thanks

If I reset and restore will all my music and videos be restored?

All my apps put back in place on home screen?

I thought I read iTunes backups are not backing up all they use to.

I transfer purchases when I do my Encrypted backups.

I use iTunes Match and have downloaded all music to iPhone. Did that in case I cx Match as I am not buying much anymore.

I use the TV app and keep some movies on iPhone as I watch them.

Guess my biggest concern would be my playlists I made and my home screen.

Will be trying Verizon today for one month. I am not porting my number. They are giving me a number for the month.

Will anything like my Apple Pay and Car Bluetooth be affected?

When I put my ATT sim back in, will all work as before?

Thanks
