Question as I just switched to Verizon. I know CDMA doesn't support simultaneous voice/data. However with Verizon adopting LTE which is a GSM based technology it is possible. My question is, if you are using an LTE device on Verizon's network and your connection drops to 3G, can you continue to browse and talk? Sorry if this is a stupid question. :p

No, data stops working and the phone call (if handed off properly) is kept as it has a higher priority.

Ok one more question, does Verizon use hard handovers on LTE and soft on 3G?

Not entirely sure. All I know is that the LTE-CDMA/CDMA-LTE handover drops more calls than the EDGE/UTMS(3G)/LTE handoffs.

If the phone is SVDO then yes. If not then no.

Only one or two phones on Verizon's network are SVDO capable. The rest are standard CDMA/LTE/EVDO.

He's not. Thunderbolt is the SVDO phone we are talking about. It's the only phone on Verizon that can do that. I'm not sure about the s3 though.

Edit: I'm not sure about any phone really as I'm having hard time digging up any info. Thunderbolt for sure, Rezound I THINK so and no idea about the rest.

I have the Rezound and it can do voice and data at the same time on 3G.
