Verizon vs. ATT (1 line) Question

Alright, I am not sure I am even in the right sub forum so forgive me if I am wrong.

I am currently on my Dad's ATT plan (Yes, I do pay him cash monthly for my line). However I would rather have everything in my name and just pay off my line instead of giving him cash monthly.

So, I was shopping around between ATT and Verizon to see what is the better plan to go with for 1 line. I don't really watch shows on the go, so I don't need the direct tv deal with ATT. I just want data, fast data if possible. I mainly watch youtube from time to time but basically I am just going on social media, emails, etc.

The mobile hotspot is nice because I have a rMB and take it everywhere with me.

I still haven't ordered an iPhone X, because I want to see it in person in the store (I want to compare it to the s8+ which is my other main choice). So, before I pull the trigger I want to know what is a good network to go with.

I researched as best I could with all 4 major carriers, but wanted an input from Macrumors users.

So who here has a 1 line plan and is similar to what my needs are that can offer an opinion?

Honestly -- keep the deal you have with your dad. We 1 line users get royally screwed. Not worth it just to have an account in your name. It doesn't even help your credit record.

But VZW is gong to be less expensive I think if you don't have DTV or some other discount plan. I think VZW is modifying their plans next week for the worse so might want to check into that so you can get grandfathered into one of the current deals.

Thanks, I will look into it. It sucks that 1 line people get screwed like this. I don't want the direct tv / HBO extras as I am more of a gamer than a binge watching tv show guy. Oh well. Thank you for the feedback.
