What is the model number (MN***LL/A) on the box? The numbers I see on their website indicate it is the locked version even when I select full price and unactivated.

There actually is a difference, and it has nothing to do with the Sim Card. With a sim-free, you are not required to have a carrier account to purchase it full-price.
Right now, T-Mobile is the only carrier that does not require an account if one purchases it full-price. However, with a sim-free model, which "should" support both CDMA + GSM will not require an account, which is the one I'm waiting for since I'm currently on T-Mobile.
Can you purchase a Verizon iPhone on iUP without Verizon account or only by paying full price?
my Verizon phone, I paid in full (at Apple store, yesterday) is working on both my Sprint and MetroPCS services. I did have to call each to get the phone activated with my SIMs. but that was after leaving the store without any activation to any service provider.Would an unlocked verizon 7 work on Sprint?
Unlocked Sprint will work on Verizon if you already have an active/working Verizon SIM card. Just swap SIM cards and you're good to go.I'd like to know this as well, and vice versa (Sprint iPhone on Verizon).
In the past there have been reports from forum members that their unlocked iPhone wouldn't get activated on either Sprint or Verizon because it wasn't on either companies "whitelist" of phones they would allow on their CDMA network... whereas the SIM-free model had no issues getting activated on any US CDMA type carrier.
Good point. I've forgotten they had that JP model. Question is whether NFC used in that device will be compatible in the US. The JP model does have 2 extra LTE Bands (11-1500 MHz and 21-1500 MHz).I don't believe that the Verizon iPhone 7 = Sim Free iPhone 7. If that were the case, what would be the point of ever releasing a Sim-Free iPhone 7?
Now, I understand why people think it will be identical, but something tells me the Sim Free edition may have a few more tricks up its sleeve. For example, that Japanese NFC-like frequency (whatever that's called) and maybe support a few extra bands or what not.
I'm merely speculating here, but so is everyone else. To come out and declare that these will be identical phones is pure guess at this point. I don't understand how some people can "know for a fact" that the phones will be the same when the Sim-Free model hasn't even been released yet.
I Picked up 1 Verizon on Saturday without any account info and 2 more yesterday. I don't even have Verizon. So you are obviously wrong.

The official sim free doesn't exist. Possible Sprint and other carriers won't activate because IMEI isn't in their databaseWrong.
Full price verizon and sprint are true world phones.
Full price att and tmo are GSM unlocked.
at a Sprint store, tell them to whitelist it which can be done according to their March 2016 (or was it 2015?) Playbook. they do this with Sprint over the phone. at my one local Sprint store, I have a go-to person who's the only one that will do it for me. the others will fight ya and say you don't know what you're talking about. The official sim free doesn't exist. yeap. since this year the Sprint and Verizon versions are the same model, I was able to have Sprint whitelist my Verizon IMEI. for the 6s Plus, I had the T-Mo version whitelisted. for the 5s, again, it was the Verizon version I had whitelisted.Nice, so you've gotten a verizon phone to activate on Sprint's network?
I imagine most people don't have a goto guy, and don't want to jump through those hoops. Just wait for the official version seems the easiest path to me.yeap. since this year the Sprint and Verizon versions are the same model, I was able to have Sprint whitelist my Verizon IMEI. for the 6s Plus, I had the T-Mo version whitelisted. for the 5s, again, it was the Verizon version I had whitelisted.
before she became my go-to, I ran through those same hoops. it wasn't till one so-called Level 3 Technical Rep (of many) told me that when I go to the store, to mention the March 2015 Playbook which most Store Reps usually don't know about. these were technical reps that were saying 'yes' the store reps were saying 'no'. took a while to get past the runaround.I imagine most people don't have a goto guy, and don't want to jump through those hoops.
