OK, I am a new VZ customer and the phone service is good so far. I am on the base GoUnlimited plan and the only downside so far is that it does not include "premium LTE" data so you don't always get full speed. This is actually noticeable when loading content rich apps and websites like Washington Post... it takes some time to populate the thumbnail pictures, etc on my new XR. My full speed work AT&T iPhone 6S does not suffer from this issue.

But that is not my major problem. The issue is that Verizon website and software are the most horrible experiences I have had in years. I created an online MyVerizon account and go to my account to set up auto pay. The web page gives me a message: "Due to recent changes to your account this function is unavailable. Try again in a couple of hours". I've been trying for a day and a half.

Second, I am trying to set up my veteran's discount but the web page for that will not load. On Chrome or Safari get an error message can't open page due to "too many redirects". On Edge it just fails to load. I have tried this on 3 different computers.

Then I tried the phone app. <sigh> I can't even log in on that. I enter my data and it says sorry, that user ID is already taken. Yes, d'ohhh, by me!

Egads. How can they be so screwed up??

I had similar issues when I was with Verizon. As a new customer, it took a few days before MyVerizon was fully active. For the veteran's discount, I just took my documentation to a corporate store and had them add it to my account.

For me, I got a corporate discount fairly automagically. I registered my work email address, they sent a confirmation email that I had to click on a link and boom, the next billing cycle I had the discount

Wait another day to let things work out. I created my Verizon account Saturday and I wasn't able to use the mobile app until Sunday. They already billed me my first bill and I paid it already and set up auto pay.

The best website I have ever seen is AT&T. Their app is also great. Verizon needs to learn a thing or two from them.

I would opt to the Beyond Unlimited plan, only 10 bucks extra. With Go Unlimited, you will notice the speed lag and videos will only be streaming in DVD quality 480p instead of HD via LTE.

Yeah, I was wondering if I would notice the lag with the plan I got. But i am not sure it is a problem... and not sure HD streaming would make much difference on such a small screen. But I still might do this after awhile depending on how it goes. Plus the hotspot with 15GB of LTE data in the Beyond would be a lot more useful when I need to use a hotspot. VZ bait and switch. ;-/

Could this be caused by the difference between Verizon and AT&T? I was wondering if Verizon throttles the speed of just browsing on your phone rather than explicitly streaming video.

Took a few days for me to get set up too. I think they sent me an email when it was ready. I also showed my veterans ID at the local Verizon store at purchase to get the discount.

For those who are trying to decide between GoUnlimited and Beyond Unlimited look into the February Unlimited plan as you may save money by switching to it.

Here’s a link to a Reddit comment on what to do:

Very interesting...has anyone done this recently? Wonder if Verizon shut down the ability to switch to it. I just chatted with a CSR and they said it is not possible to switch to it.

I had verizon for a little bit and that Go unlimited is freakin useless. Its the slowest I have ever seen on a device. It pretty much exists just so people can go to the next level. Once again, verizon's network is not made to handle it so they have that ****** slow offering. Verizon in general is just too expensive for what else is avail. I am on tmobile now and have no problems. Speeds are fast, billing is down about 30 bucks.

To be honest, I was paying more for T-Mobile when I was with them over six years ago lol. But I get you on the Go Unlimited, I was tricked by a Verizon Rep saying that she can get my bill lower by ten bucks if I switch to Go Unlimited. I thought nothing of it because who doesn't want ten bucks off their bill, right? So as soon as she updated it, I noticed the lag immediately and researched the features of Go, it was terrible so I switched it back to Beyond.

Funny...I find Verizon's app and website experience to be light years ahead of that of AT&T. Although the VZW site has been redesigned lately and it is a lot more confusing to find things on the main account landing page. It's way too busy.

Verizons mobile app is more than sufficient for what I need to do (which is basically checking out and paying my bill). I've also browsed phones and changed features on my account without issue. As has been said, it takes a little bit for everything to settle (likely until next billing cycle) but once you're in Verizon is great.

How were you paying more I’m paying 90 with an XR.?verizon is 85 plus tax for beyond plus 33 for the same phone making it around 125. That’s a 35$ increase

90 with a Xr is pretty good. Technically my Verizon is 90 without the phone add on since I get about 20% off my bill cause where I work. It's about 150 including my Xs Max. But I remember long ago with Tmobile paying 120 for unlimited talk, text and 200mb of data (not kidding).
