I will be picking up an iPhone 5 with the upgrade of another line. After I have the phone, can I activate the phone on the line that I actually want to use it on or do I need to activate it first on the actual line that I used for the upgrade, then switch it to the other one? Thanks!

If you're doing it at a Verizon store, they'll take care of everything. If you're ordering it online, switch the upgrade then order the phone. Thats what I did. Worked flawlessly.

Don't switch the phone on otherwise the SIM card will be attached to the new number.

I recommend you call them and tell them to switch the sim to the line you want the iphone on BEFORE you turn it on.

If you do activate it and want to switch to another line here's what I had to do on launch day (don't know if they've fixed this since then):

1. Activate phone
2. call and have them dummy out the line and put the sim to sleep or rest (or whatever term they use..)
3. login online (or call) and activate it on the 'correct' line the next day (they tell you 24 hours after step '2' above but I was able to do it the next morning online.

Alternatively, you may be able to activate it online before turning on the phone for the first time (on the non-upgrade line)

Confused yet?

Thanks everyone! I am hoping to pick the phone up one of these days (soon!) from an Apple Store through the on-line 10pm program. It sounds like my best bet is to just make sure I call Verizon before I turn the phone one, would that be correct?

Thanks again!
