Vertex 3 SSD KILLING battery life!?

I've just gone from a Momentus XT, to a Momentus XT + 1TB Samsung M8, to an OCZ Vertex 3 240GB + 1TB Samsung M8.

Adding the Samsung decreased battery life a little, but not much as it stays spun down 95% of the time.

Adding the Vertex 3 made no difference at all over the Momentus XT. I'm on stock 2.02 Firmware with the OEM version which uses the Toshiba NAND that the Max IOPS version uses.

I hear you - thanks for the comparison - I just wish it was possible to find out if there is a power consumption difference between firmware upgrades - that way I know if its worth upgrading. I've looked thru OCZ's site and found nothing.

bump...

I hear you. I busted replaced the stock 750GB drive to Samsung 470 256GB on my 2011 MBP 2.3. My battery life went from 6.5hrs to about 9 hours running lion. I couldn't believe the figure, but for light web browsing, I've been able to run the computer all day without worrying about recharging.

It's also been rock stable with no sign of slow downs or beach ball. I was very tempted to go SATAIII route, but am glad I chose stability and battery life. Probably the best upgrade I spent money one. :)

I've got a Vertex 3 on my MBP and as a Mac newbie.. I'm wondering if it is contributing to awful battery life.

Starting from a full battery, OSX Lion, using only integrated graphics and wifi to browse the web, install an app or two etc.. I am down to 61% after barely over 1h:45min.

Is this normal?

Screen brightness is at less than 25% and no keyboard backlight..

I'm tempted to put my stock HDD back in and see what kind of battery life i get.
