For some reason every time I close my MBP's lid from the right corner, those strange vertical lines appear along the left side of the screen and also when I press on the bottom left hand side. Is this normal?
It doesn't happen when the lid is closed from the middle or the left

While trying to close the lid:

take it into the apple store or service center.

sounds like you'll need a new LVDS cable.

if this is a SR or newer MBP, you'll get a new top clamshell (includes LCD panel, apple logo back, lvds cable, and antennae)

Ok thanks. Yeah it's one of the SR MBPs.
Do I need to call for an appointment w/ the Apple store?
Also will they replace it for free? It's still under warranty.

you'll need to go online and set up an appointment to meet with a genius.

If that doesnt work you can always go to an apple service provider. They can do repairs just as fast if not faster, and its always good to support small business. :)

yes the repair will be free if it is under warranty.

If this issue didn't occur due to abuse, I am fairly certain they will take care of it for free.

Update:

I met up with the mac genius today, he looked at it and immediately said they'll fix it. It'll take 2-5 days. I'm very pleased with their customer service. I can't wait to get my MBP back. ;)
