Did they say HOW it could damage your MBA? There was an argument back in the day of platter/spinning HDs that vertical orientation could affect the live of the drive. But with SSD, and no virtually zero mechanical parts, I don't see how they could hurt your MBA.

In fact, I have this stand sitting on the floor between my living room chair and the end table. It's where my MBA sits when not in use.
