Guys, has anyone noticed the dock 'clipping' the bottom off rollover text (probably when it overlaps icon tiles)?

The "y" in system preferences seems to go below where the "g" stops, so it might just be the Garageband icon or text.

In one of the icons in my dock i have an "@" sign and the very bottom of the @ is getting cut off too.

ah i see, i havent seen this myself, i would imagine though that it is the result of the icon cutting it off, odd nonetheless though

I'm surprised you noticed that. Although that is pretty much how the "g"'s look on my dock. Are you sure it's cutting off part of the decender?

Those icons are basically squares. Sometimes, if you can get the computer slow enough, you'll see how all of the icons are squares that are rendered into the icons you normally see. So it's the invisible squares cutting the text. When you see those same problematic letters on the desktop, there's not cut off. If Apple just raised the text up a couple of pixels, it would be perfectly fine.

BTW, this has been noted before. E-mail Apple. I don't think they've noticed all of the complaints still...

It might be a bug, but it's far from "very annoying." I wouldn't even have noticed it had you not said anything. Even knowing that it's there, I have to look hard to see it.

yeah I guess it's cut off...but your sky is falling senario of it being very annoying is a little over-reactive...been watching to much Fox News have we?

It's not something I've noticed, but my Dock is set quite small with the magnification turned off. I've just had a close look and it's not just the text in the area above the icons themselves (as Applekid discusses) – my System Preferences icon is on the far left of my Dock, next to the Finder, and the 'y', which has no Dock under it, is also cut off.

And I'm just anal enough to be bothered by this every time I use my Dock. ;)

Wow. That is a disgusting little bug. I haven't noticed it for the 3 years that I've used OSX. Now that it's brought to my attention, I find the dock very annoying. Apple, fix your crap!

it's not the icon getting in the way because my dock is on the right and I still get it.

I think I'm going to sell my PowerBook now...

Yes, my dock does that, too...

Probably a bug in the textfield size in the implementation of the Dock. Anyone bothered enough to send a bug report to Apple...?
