Very Basic Mac Question

Okay, new to macs, I accidentaly deleted the download stack from my dock, I search for the download folder in spotlight and dragged it into the dock, however it is no longer a stack, in fact it won't actually do anything when click upon. Can anyone tell me how to sort this out please?

Right click on the folder for options, such as "Display as Folder or Stack"

Thanks for the help, problem solved. I was being stupid and using the wrong folder.
