Hi,

I've got a late-2007 MackBook, my first Mac. W/ my Windows computer at work I can CTR-ALT-Delete to get to the quick screen lock, e.g., when I step away from my computer. I've set my MacBook to lock and require password upon sleeping, but is there a way to go straight into a Windows-type screen lock without putting it to sleep, like when I'm ripping a disc and I want to lock wth screen w/o interrupting the rip? Thanks!

Open Keychain Access (Applications->Utilities), open preferences, activate "show keychan status in menubar". You can now click on the lock on the menubar and select lock screen... DONE.

I prefer to use a widget for doing this. Keeps my menu bar more simple. Locker does the job just as good as the Keychain menu icon. As far as I can tell, it even uses the same function calls.
