I have a 2G Touch running 3.1.2, I downgraded from iOS 4 using this website: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

I noticed there were alot of firmwares on this site for basically every iPod model ever created.

My question is, what would happened if I tried to install the ORIGINAL iPod Classic 1st gen firmware on my Touch?

N.B. If you click on the above link, the firmware in question is at the top (iPod 1G/2G (1/1.5))

You'll brick it. A second gen iPod doesn't have the drivers for the 1st Gen firmware/software.

To add to this thread: would I also get bricked if I tried to install any of the other non-Touch firmwares? i.e. Nano, Video, Shuffle, newer-gen Classics, etc.?

Yes. It will also get bricked if you install the wrong Touch firmware (say the 1G Touch firmware).

Basically, any firmware but the one made for your model will brick it.

Why do you ask? Are you hoping you could magically turn your iPod Touch into a different iPod by changing the firmware?
