Damn... what people have in their minds? Wasting money on that.

Can you imagine if people wasted money on old coins.. movie posters signed by some Hollywood actor.. cards with picture of athletes??

Oh wait..

A lot listings that claim never opened tend to be resealed.

I'm thinking of buying it, just for the smell during unboxing.
I’ve packaged air in ziplock bags of various Apple products if you’re interested. :p

No it's not. When stocks split, they divide down the historical prices so you do not account for any split.

AAPL was ~$1.31 in October 2001, it's $197.07 today, so that's 150x. 150 x $399 = $60,000.

It's all about shares, not price. You buy 300 shares, it splits 2:1 and you now have 600 shares. Forget about what the shares are worth. Then it splits 7:1. You now have 4200 shares at the time it split. Fast forward to today and multiply 4200 shares by the price of each share and you have the total.

Doesn’t mean it can’t hold a charge. Zero charge cycles.

Maybe the seller will be kind enough to throw in a FireWire 400 adapter. :)

Hmm. Maybe I shouldn't have *just* thrown away my FW400 to car charger. I could've got in on this money grab!

Man I remember when I got my 1st gen. Went along nicely with my iBook. i think I paid $499 for 5gbs. Everyone was envious when they first saw it. I went to a summer school class with the sons of the drummer of Led Zepplin and they were trying to buy it off me lol Most people were still carrying a walkman or an MP3 player that held like 20 songs. They were more pissed when they found out it wonly worked with Mac's. I eventually ended up giving it to my GF when I bought a third Gen, which to me is still my favorite.

Wow, I had one of these. The true original one with physical spinning scroll wheel, FireWire sync/charge port, and stainless steel backing.

Mine got splashed with sea water one time during a boat ride in Tonga and never worked again. Sad times.

There's no way in a million years i'd pay that sort of money for something that you can only verify its validity by reducing its value by opening the thing and looking! Look at EverythingApplePro's latest original iPhone purchase.

I have an Original Bobba Fett star wars toy that my dog chewed the head off but I wrapped what was left of the toy in plastic and i have it up on ebay for $10,000.00 if anyone is interested.
The head is probably in my back yard if you want to come over and look for it.

I was in Hawaii and saw a souvenir shop selling canned hurricane wind. No joke.

And who remembers that app in the early days of the App Store that cost something like $10K and all it did was just put some sort of icon on the screen.

I truly believe you can put almost anything on the market and someone, somewhere will buy it.

Just a data point:

About 6 years ago I sold an original iPod. It had been opened, but all the packaging and inserts, cables, etc had been carefully preserved (even the shrinkwrap remained, just cut on the top to open it) thanks to an OCD owner (me) who saved the boxes on nearly everything. The iPod was in very good cosmetic condition, but the battery wouldn't hold a charge.

It wound up selling for just under $300 I think - someone very much wanted it for display purposes. At the same time I also sold a similarly used RIO PMP 300, complete with box and everything inside - the first available MP3 Player in the USA - and it went for about $70.

This one probably is. Just because some idiot listed it for $35000 does not mean that is its value. Lets see what it is actually sold for.

Its probably just a brick inside a fake packaging but since nobodys gonna open it they will never find out! LOL

I’ve got an original ipod, but it’s not factory sealed. I’ll sell it to ya for a tenth of that. Heh heh heh

Damn... what people have in their minds? Wasting money on that.

resale value is through the roof.. They do make a good markup, even very old stuff

Its a piece of history right there. (Not as nostalgic as the Amiga of course :) )
