Finally received my new iPhone 17 Pro in silver. It's gorgeous! We ordered two of them, for my partner as well. We have a 17 Pro with a G9N panel and one with a G9P panel, so both Samsung.

One of the Pro's does have very sharp edges of the plateau, I could use it as a knife... the other Pro has 'softener' edges and feels better in hand.

I went to an Apple Store and felt several iPhones. To my surprise, there was a real difference between the 14 iPhones: some were extremely sharp, some beautifully rounded.

Apple says I can request an exchange, but who's to say I'll get the right one? After the screen, this also feels like a lottery.

Does someone experience the same around the plateau?

My phone was not out of the box for 30 seconds before it slipped into a case. The edge of the plateau is completely covered and protected. They make thin cases that add little to nothing to the phone size.

To be fair with that logic you may as well just get a phone made entirely out of plastic. Gonna cover it with rubber anyway.

I contacted Apple, and they refused to exchange my 17 Pro with the very sharp edges of the camera platform. They don't consider it serious. Anyway, returning or exchanging it takes at least two weeks, and I currently have a G9N panel without colored tints and don't want to take that risk, so I'll stick with this iPhone.

There’s an interesting divide; some people, like me, care a lot about cosmetic condition, which is why my 13 is still in mint shape with everything (even the camera lens) protected. Others, however, don’t mind if their phone looks like it’s been through WW3, as long as it still works.

According to that supplier sheet floating around awhile ago, there are 2 manufacturers of the aluminum unibody. 3 actually, with one making both pro and pro max, and then one each making pro and pro max. So the pro and pro max share 1 supplier of the unibody, and then have a separate supplier as well that differs between the pro and pro max.

Would love a iPhone with the body made from the same plastic as my Glocks. I use an ultra thin shell/case on my phone mainly for the grip. To me, naked iPhones are way too slippery.

Bad luck. Samsung panels are notorious for their poor uniformity and pink tint.
