This is something that’s been bugging me for a good long while, so maybe I’ll ask about it. The following combination results in a very bad experience:

With Safari on iPad, when using the forum’s Rich Text Editor to specifically write a quick reply to a thread with a bluetooth keyboard.

When I’m using this combination, trying to navigate my reply with the keyboard causes the page to jump to the very end with each press of an arrow key. As you can imagine this is highly annoying because I can then no longer see the text box I’m putting words into.

If I disable Rich Text Editor in forum settings and try to write a quick reply, the arrow keys work fine.

If I enable Rich Text Editor in forum settings but tap on ”More Options” to go to the proper text editor (the same one used to start a new thread like this one), the arrow keys work fine.

If I use the Rich Text Editor to write a quick reply on my Mac, the arrow keys work fine.

I’d like to use the Rich Text Editor when posting quick replies to threads on MacRumors’ forums on my iPad with my BT Keyboard, but that’s never been possible. Can this be improved on?

What’s curious is that it’s specific to the quick reply Rich Text Editor (the one you can see at the end of a thread) - the one that’s on a page of its own doesn’t have this problem.

This is a bug in the XenForo forum software we use. I reported it to them months ago and they didn't show any interest in addressing it.

It appears to finally be fixed in XenForo 2.0, which was just officially released last week. I'm told, however, that it will be a while before we can update, as 2.0 is basically a complete rewrite of the code and our rather customized deployment of XenForo will need some behind-the-scenes work to make sure everything keeps functioning following the upgrade.

From this I gather that updating MacRumors to XenForo 2.0 is nonetheless in the cards, it’ll just take some time?

If so, that’s great news!
