Hi there

Why has my phone started to get very warm when browsing safari?

It gets so warm the back and railing (left side) heats up causing me uncomfort. This also affects my battery as it drains really fast. Restart the phone did not help.
Doing other tasks on the phone does nothing, it keeps a cool temperature then.

Which browser? What are you doing while browsing? Videos? AR/VR? Some very heavy business webpage?

The left side of the phone is where the SoC and most of the electronics that can process data in some form or another.

You are justing feeling the heat from passively cooled processors.

I use a company wide scheduling system and in a matter of minutes my iPhone 11 will feel fairly warm. Its a very bloated webpage.

Try installing an ad blocker if you don’t have one already. My phone would get really warm and the battery would drain really fast on these forums before I started using an ad blocker. Now it doesn’t happen.
I second that. AdGuard works great (you don’t even notice you have it installed).

Stock safari browser, just browsing these forums and other news releated sites. Nothing heavy that i can see. I mean the phone is cooler when im gaming so it must be something wrong with safari?

Glad it worked for you but it did not work for me. Still very hot just by reading this forum post.

This is why, they're working on a fix, ad blocker isn't working for me anymore, when not on these forums my 12 pro max battery life is amazing and phone doesn't get red hot.

Yep left side gets red hot, feels like the volume buttons are going to melt off. 🤦‍♂️

Only happens here, hopefully they find a fix soon.

It's not safari, it's this site and forum, haven't been on here with my iPhone for the last 2 days, battery life is amazing and phone hasn't gotten warm or hot at all when using safari.

You could try the Tapatalk app for browsing forums such as these, in case your ad blockers don’t get sufficient results. I’m running the pro version which also eliminates ads when reading posts.

My phone hasn’t heated up reading these forums ever since I installed Firefox focus and enabled it in settings for safari.

I have Firefox focus installed and so does @Pearslikethefruit and a few others, it use to work but stopped working a few days before iOS 15 beta 5 came out, what iOS version are you running? doubt that has anything to do with it though, since battery drain and heating issues is happening for people on iOS 14 & iOS 15.

If you have a mac open the console utility and start streaming the console logs of the iPhone. You can sometimes spot errors in those logs. For instance, i found one app that I had, Coinhako, that was continuously doing network stuff in the background even though I had app background refresh turned off. Reinstalled it and it was fine after that. I also found that I had mDNS errors that I fixed on my router. Give it a shot. Be warned there is a lot of logging

Yes, in the last couple weeks or so, browsing macrumours on my 12 mini with Firefox focus has started to make the back of the phone get hot again, 2 days ago it was frighteningly hot to touch, but surprise, surprise immediately closing the macrumours site and the phone cooled down.

On a side note, good strong start for the scousers, but same old with my beloved gunners, just painful to watch against Brentford that was 🤦‍♂️ 😩

I've stopped using this site and forum on my iPhone and iPad, battery life is amazing, getting 10-11 hours usage on my 12 pro Max, also no heat what so ever, I doubt it'll ever get fixed properly, whole site/forum needs to be overhauled.

Jump on here with my iPhone and iPad, lose 2% in a minute, need to charge them both by midday 🤦‍♂️

The gunners 🤦‍♂️ the owners need to go mate, more stingy than Tim Cook when it comes to including a charger with your iPhone. 😂

Always lovely seeing City lose 😃 United 😡
