Hi,
We have a group presentation coming up and after using Keynote, I can't use that other famous software.

In short, is it better to go for the Mini Displayport to VGA adapter or the Lightning to VGA adapter?
Its nice to just carry my iPad on the day vs the Macbook Pro, but can't justify £40 for the Lightning adapter that I will use once.

What is the pro and con of each?

It has to be VGA because thats what the projectors use.
Thanks!

They both work equally well. You can get a thunderbolt/DisplayPort to VGA adapter for less then the lighting version as there are many 3rd party versions, certainly less than £40.

The MacBook can use the projector as a second screen and keep notes on the laptop screen, and use the mouse for drawing annotations. The iPad lets you use your finger to draw over the presentation and I don't think it has a two screen option.

You can also export as PDF and use that as a presentation, or if you have internet access you can use the web version of keynote on iCloud.com.

I've been in the exact same situation.

Get the tb-vga adapter.
Bring both your macbook and ipad.
Then control the presentation on the macbook from the ipad. (download the repsective app and pair bluetooth)

No matter what happens, I want to control from my iPhone. I ultimately went for the Lightning-to-VGA adapter and its been great so far :)
