VGA to S Video not working

I'm trying to play video from my Macbook (bought in early 2010) to my TV display. I have a converter from my Mini Displayport to VGA, from VGA to S Video, and from S Video to the TV. When I try to play video, the TV just shows a blue screen with some slight squigglies every once in a while. Help!

You can't convert from Mini Display Port to S-Video.

S-video doesn't support whatever resolution its trying to output. What other connections do you have on your TV? anything that says pc-rgb or something will be vga and that might work.
