VHS to Digital conversion for Emac

Greetings

What is the cheapest way of getting my VHS recordings onto my Emac so that i can then edit them in Imovie or Final cut and then burn onto DVD?

A freind suggested using a camcorder with an Av input on it.

Ive only got a few hours worth then thats it
