I searched and found lots of threads with ideas about vhs to dvd, but nothing specific on the ElGato process. I recently purchased a 24/2.8 iMac and included an ElGato EyeTv 250plus in the purchase to transfer vhs and vhs-c to digital format. Some I will want to save on hard drive, others transfer to dvd and then be rid of the tapes. This is all new to me, especially the format issue (mp2? mp3? mp4? others?) so patience appreciated.

I transfered a 2hr tape to the iMac using the elgato. It is now in the archive. My problem comes with getting it to a dvd. I tried exporting to iDVD, but the error/warning messages indicate it's too big. Elgato requires that I purchase Toast to burn directly from there. This seems like it should not be necessary given all the Apple software. But I have read posts that

Anyone else used this hardware to accomplish the vhs-->DVD transfer?
