VHS to iMac to DVD

What equipment do I need!

Would like to get home movies etc on a format that won't deteriorate!!!

old fashioned method

What you need.
1)VCR
2)DV camcorder- with analog to digital conversion feature
3)Mac with iDVD and DVD burner

What you do.

1)Hook up VCR output to DV camcorder input or use TV as bridge if neccesary.
2)Record on the camcorder as you play the video.
3)when done import to your Mac in iMovie.
4)Edit it, play around with effects or transitions if you want
5) Export to iDVD
6) Play around more with themes and menu order.
7)BURN!!! your very own DVD.

Sony Handycam DCR TRV255E?? Anyone know if this has analog to digital conversion feature's?

I've been considering putting all of my old home videos that are on VHS on DVD. Is it absolutely necessary to have a DV Cam to do this? There isn't another way?

you would need a capture card, but since you have an imac, im not sure if you have any alternatives but to just use a camcorder...

Yeah, I guess I'll either wait and get a camcorder or try to find some other way.

We have an EyeTV box that plugs into our iMac at home, it has the RYW input connections on it and we simply plug the Video Player in that way and record the footage onto the computer
