Great thanks. Wasn't good that Whatsapp decided to stop us having their app on my daughter's iPod Touch 4G recently, she relied on this for texting myself and my wife.

Viber will hopefully fill that hole :)

2.0 update text messaging is great thanks!

I did tweet you regarding a couple of issues I hope you can get into 2.01 though: LANDSCAPE support please for texting! Timestamps on bubbles and being able to tap the bubble area to hide the keyboard DOWN out the way to view the conversation. Currently have to back out of the chat and go back in to see it without the keyboard.

Would be nice if you could tap'n'hold on a Contact to get a quick popup to choose either CALL or TEXT, reduce taps required to text someone.

Keep up the good work!

It's been temporarily removed to fix a problem. It should appear as soon as Apple approve it which hopefully won't be very long.

Loss of SMS messages whilst running viber on 4.3.2

I recently installed Viber to keep in contact with friends in California without the huge bills. I was initially rather worried about loading it as I wasnt sure about contacts being uploaded to some server somewhere. I did read the terms and conditions which did not clearly state where and for how long my contacts are held by a third party. Anyhow, succumbing to my friends telling me it was a great free service, I downloaded the app from iTunes store. Initially I was very impressed at how clear calls were and indeed what a clever service. Then whilst running viber all my messages were deleted from my phone which crashed and restarted (something I have not ever had with my iphone4 on any 4.x.x OS.) Having now realised they are gone for good (unless I pay for a forensic retrieval, something which my texts do not justify) I looked at various message boards and can see that Viber hold your contacts for a year but in their t&c's also state that if the company was sold, your information will be sold. So caution is recommended. I would like to know if anyone else has lost information , I can see on iTunes people who have lost all contacts, anyone else lost messages?

Hi,
This is a member of the Viber Development Team.

First - Viber can't be the cause to the deletion of your iPhone's messages. Viber can't even access that info. The reason for this (and the crash) is probably some other external source, that might have something to do with an application you downloaded, or the fact that your iPhone is jailbroken maybe.

Regarding taking information from users and selling it -
It is important to be accurate – we only collect names and phone numbers, nothing else. Naturally, we collect users' information not because we are curious of its content, but in order for functional reasons, and for us to enable the service we, as a company, promise to provide. Without that information, Viber cannot function. This is not different from any other major social network/communication service provider in our world nowadays.

I would like to clarify: we DO NOT sell users' information to anyone, and we keep this information WELL locked in our servers, with extremely limited access to it. The line in our Privacy Policy that refers to giving the information third parties does not mean that we sell it. sometimes it is necessary to pass to one or two companies in order, for example, to send an SMS with activation code (again - functional reasons).
In our contracts with those companies, we make sure the information we send it deleted immediately after its functional use.
Also, in our Privacy Policy you can clearly read that any company we might merge with in the future will be OBLIGED by law to comply with our current, strict privacy policy terms. Which means your information will remain safe, no matter if the hypothetical option of a merger becomes reality.

If you have further questions, please do ask.

Regards,
Viber Media.

Viber code error?

I downloaded Viber a couple of days ago and it's been working better then expected! The sound quality is so much better than Skype! Great work guys!! But I now have an issue with the App. Can anyone help?

I deleted the App because I had a problem calling my partner who is overseas at moment. I've called and spoken to her several times using Viber, but this afternoon it would not ring or dial out. It immediately timed out every time I tried to called her (displayed error with internet). I checked the internet connections on my phone and also on my computer and that was fine. ( at the same time I had received an email and Facebook MSG from my partner asking what is wrong with the Viber App? ) I thought it may just be with the App. So as you do.. to solve any issue with Apps - You deleted and reinstall them.

I downloaded it a second time.

Everything was fine.. I put in my phone number. Received the SMS code, which was the same number as before.. Typed that number in and it displays an error: invalid code.

Any suggestions how to solve this problem guys?

We currently have a problem with our servers.
We are working hard to fix it, and hope it will be resolved even today.

Please test it again later and make sure it works. If not, let me know.

Thanks for the kind words, we're glad you're enjoying :)
The next 1-2 days might still be bumpy when it comes to Viber functionality. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope to complete our upgrade as soon as possible.

Error Message

I get an error message every time after I entered my mobile number during Viber set up (at the same time received an access code through text message). What is the reason for this?

What is the exact wording of the error message?
What country are you located in?

After entering my mobile number and press continue, I got a message "Error" and unable to continue set up from there.

I am located in the United Arab Emirates. Many Iphone users are able to use Viber here.

I suspected you were from the UAE...
Viber is blocked in the UAE for any user who reinstalled Viber, beginning May 1st.
It worked previous to that.

You should trust us that we tried doing literally anything – and still no luck

Our best suggestion for our UAE (and Oman) users is to use a VPN connection in order to use Viber. Look it up online and you’ll find forums discussing it.

If I travel overseas (say Singapore, Thailand or China) and have Viber re-installed and set up there. Will Viber still work later after entering UAE? Is the block only for the set up?

As far as we've been informed - you will start being blocked once you land back in the UAE :(
You might still be able to receive Viber calls, but not make them.

HI! Can sb help me? It's SO important to me.

Me and my girlfriend used to use Viber for iPhone successfully here in Poland. We love this app we've cut our phone bills so much!
However, she moved to Glasgow some time ago and I stayed in Poland. We can still txt each other easily, BUT when I call her Viber or she calls mine, we hear each other for some seconds and then our talk occurs to be over. At first the network quality is good, then, rapidly, it becomes poor.
Could sb help us? Is this an issue of some settings or sth?

Hi,
It sounds like either one of the networks you are using (I'm guessing the one in Scotland, since you're using the same one that worked in Poland) is blocking Viber.

Please tell your girlfriend to test Viber when connected to a few different WiFi networks. Does the problem persist on ALL of them?

When Calling i can't hear the other one if i don't use the speaker

I install the Viber on my iphone 4 when i call someone (or someone call me) i can't hear them until i open the speaker
however when making a normal call i can hear without the speaker
