This form of ads is driving me nuts. I go to a site like the NY Post and immediately the page drop down and a video like a car ad etc. starts playing loudly. Not only does it scare anyone around me it scares me too!
I can't even get the sound lower and I have to mute the ad of say screw it and go to another news site.

Any software to prevent these types of video ads? Preferably free in case it does not work or the ads figure ways to defeat the software?
Thx

I assume you mean in Safari. Try installing the content blocker AdGuard. The first time you go to the site after installing the extension you will need to tell AdGuard to block that section of the page.

If you use Firefox, Adblock Plus works great. It's one of the main reasons I use Firefox. I'll have to give Safari + AdGuard a try.

Thanks for the heads up on adblock. Works great at stopping those annoying videos that automatically start and play loudly like when opening the NY Post.com
