MacRumors videographer Dan shares videos on the MacRumors YouTube channel on a regular basis, and this week, he thought he'd give viewers a look at his preferred Lock Screen and Home Screen designs, along with his favorite apps and games.

Give Dan's video a watch and then tell us in the comments below about your own favorite apps, games, and Home and Lock Screen designs.

Has anyone found a mail app with a widget that actually works consistently? I find the various mail apps either already have the mail downloaded and don't update the widget, or they don't download mail until you open the app, so the widget is never updated.

As for home screen widgets that I really like, I prefer the small widget views of MiniCal, Aviary, Apple Reminders (updates real time between devices!), MyWeather, SimpleNote, and iBetter. Launcher is the best Homescreen launcher I've found.

Lock Launcher, Launcher & Widgy are the best apps currently available. Lock Launcher’s launchpad is amazing…

You can have two rows, three rows, up to 9 icons per row…all on the lockscreen! It’s amazing.

Thanks for the recommendation of Lock Launcher! I think I need a tutorial to figure out how to get it working 😂

In the favorites tab is where you add which apps or shortcuts you want to appear. Then in the upper right corner click the palm tree and turn on live activities. You can customize how many icons and rows and everything there too.

Thanks for your reply! I had done all of those things, and it still wasn’t working. I was literally getting ready to long press and delete the app, but decided to restart my phone and voila, it works! Thanks again for recommending this app!

Woo! I love seeing some Widgy recognition. Would also love to see what the MacRumors staff thinks of my navigational widgets!

My Reddit is u/geysonalvarenga would love to hear/see some thoughts!

Hi, please explain how you did this? Which type of widget is that in Widgy? How are your other app icons (the two rows) there too?

Although he says “you can’t really change anything” in the widgets you import, you CAN change/edit them quite a bit — you just need to do it by first tapping the imported widget from the Create tab, not the Manage tab. From there you just tap Edit and you can customize quite a bit. Nice if you don’t want to build from scratch but still want to personalize your widget.

One of the things I hate about the iOS 15 is the clock and the (lack of) font choices. Personally I would prefer typeface that was much slimmer (Helvetica normal or even slim).

So seeing this really hits home.

Is this something I cane male with Widgy - can you please explain exactly how you achieved this look. Not so much interesting in the icon as pretty as they are) just the date look and particularly if I can achieve the same thing for the clock.

Hmm maybe the clock is not removable.... 🤔

Still I'd be interested in how you achieved the effect please.

Thank you in advance...
