Currently I use a TiVo as my DVR and main cable box but since FiOS doesn't offer On Demand through TiVo boxes I use my Xbox One as a media player and the picture/audio quality of most apps is inadequate for my taste compared to the broadcast quality.

FX and NBC's apps on Xbox One are both particularly mediocre. Interface is fine but quality is distractingly inferior. Fox's app is surprisingly adequate once it buffers to the highest quality (but it is unstable) while ABC and AMC only offer apps on Apple TV. Showtime and HBO's apps are the only apps I'm currently happy with on the Xbox One, quality-wise.

Hopefully Apple has higher standards from its content providers for the Apple TV? Would consider replacing my Xbox One as a media player with it if so...

Does no one with an Apple TV care about the picture/audio quality of media through apps?
