Looks awesome. And it maxes out at 16bit 44khz if that matters to you.
Go 24 bit or go home.

See my last post.Such a simple and brilliant idea. Reminds me of the ChromeCast Audio which was Google’s short-lived version of this. Good to see something similar in the Apple ecosystem.
AirPlay 2 currently maxes out at 16 bit/44.1kHz (CD quality) just like AirPlay 1This is neat. I would like if Belkin made a HiFi Audio version where it has SPDIF out, and supports 24 bit 192khz.
Airplay2 supports that.
This won’t work with any kind of notifications. It’s strictly a destination for AirPlay 2. I have one.Anyone know if this can work with chime notification with homekit doorbells, or is that strictly homepods?
Honest question, where can I get an air port express with airplay 2 for £25? A1392 had the airplay 2 update (I believe a1264 didn’t), and even on eBay I can’t see any for £25.You can do the same thing with an airport express for 1/4 the price.
Whats the advantage of Airplay 2 over original airplay, when it comes to just sending music? I have one of those old Airport devices that Justperry posted, and it works fine connected to my stereo.
Ah, thank you. Nothing I care about when just playing music.
But it’s $99 um…Sounds like an expensive solution. For $99 you could get a Raspberry Pi that will do the exact same thing. Or as others have said, grab a used AirPort Express.
Not an option if you need AirPlay 2.Another option I came across recently is Andover Audio's Songbird. It's an Airplay (version 1) and Internet Audio streamer. A little more money ($149) but you can stream Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz and others as well. Does output 24-bit/192kHz.

A new AE is way more in the uk.You can do the same thing with an airport express for 1/4 the price.
It does have optical.this looks great to make old, high-end sound systems “smart”.
I do wonder, however, what kind of sound stage one would get out of this given the tiny pre-amp.
the concept is great, but I feel like it should have an optical audio out instead so you can losslessly hook it up to a powerful pre-amp.
That, of course would only work with in modern systems that support optical audio.
Other than that, something like a Cambridge audio 851N has a “proper” pre-amp and also supports AirPlay.
Nothing to do with Belkin, it’s an Apple protocol. For real. I wonder if Belkin built this thing with enough horses to be able to handle the higher bitrate. If not, thats an unhappy customer.
The biggest advantage I've run into is being able to stream to multiple devices/destinations from an iOS device. iTunes/Music will stream to any mix of AirPlay 1 or 2 devices, but iOS devices can only target multiple AirPlay 2 destinations.Whats the advantage of Airplay 2 over original airplay, when it comes to just sending music?
