I just replaced a 2011 MacBook Pro with the new 2018 model. I use my MacBook often to captue hour-long videos. Never had a problem withe the old macbook. Different story with the new one. I have tried import into iMovie from FaceTime camera, create new movie in QuickTime, as well as a 3rd party movie capture app from the app store. I can capture short videos with any of them. But with long videos, any of the three apps crashes (well, not crash, I get the spinning wheel of death, app not responding). Also, there is no set time length when this happens. It has happened at 17 minutes, at 31 minutes, and at 52 minutes (and more, these are just examples).
I have no other programs running, plenty or memory, plenty of disk space, fast CPU. But no matter what, this happens every time. Any ideas???
