video connection - MB Air

I'm pretty new to mac but was tempted by a MacBook Air... I've got it home and was hoping to connect my old video comer to it to download the tapes (mini DV tapes). My camera has a Firewire 400 and an s-video port so I thought maybe getting a s-video to mini-display port adapter would be the way to go. However reading in a little more detail the mini-dispalyport to s-video adapters seem to just be 1-way out of the mac to an s-video device.

is the an adapter/set of adapters that will allow s-video, composite video or firewire 400 into the thunderbolt port (I assume the USB-2 posts are no use) on my MacBook Air?

Any help greatly appreciated...

The Apple Thunderbolt Display is you only way (currently) to use Firewire devices with 2011 and later MacBook Airs.

An expensive solution, but works great!
I love my MBA + Thunderbolt Display set up

Thanks for the info. I don't need an external display and it would be a very expensive option just for a converter.... I guess, embarrassingly, I'll have to ask one on my friends with a PC to import the video using their firewire port and sick it on a USB for me
