I'm pretty new to mac but was tempted by a MacBook Air... I've got it home and was hoping to connect my old video comer to it to download the tapes (mini DV tapes). My camera has a Firewire 400 and an s-video port so I thought maybe getting a s-video to mini-display port adapter would be the way to go. However reading in a little more detail the mini-dispalyport to s-video adapters seem to just be 1-way out of the mac to an s-video device.

is the an adapter/set of adapters that will allow s-video, composite video or firewire 400 into the thunderbolt port (I assume the USB-2 posts are no use) on my MacBook Air?

    Any help greatly appreciated...

An expensive solution, but works great!
I love my MBA + Thunderbolt Display set up

Thanks for the info. I don't need an external display and it would be a very expensive option just for a converter.... I guess, embarrassingly, I'll have to ask one on my friends with a PC to import the video using their firewire port and sick it on a USB for me :(
