I'd like to make continuous frames from video (png format to preserve the quality) and I tried VLC so far with very poor results.

First, I tried doing it manually (pressing hotkey for screenshot like crazy) but the program ended up missing some caps in-between (meaning that if I'd like to make animation from the frames it would be laggy , choppy etc). Then I recorded a bit that I wanted then to transfer to PS and make it into frames there, but my first recorded file turned up similar to this, another one (from a diff video, in the same format, however) showed 0 bytes...
I tried playing with the settings with 0 change whatsoever.

I really need to make this animation, I come from Win where I'd use KMPlayer, sadly it's not available for Mac.
If you have any idea how to fix the issues I described or maybe you could recommend some other program to make video into separate frames without losing a few along the way) I would be incredibly grateful!
