The old handbrake 0.9.4 still uses ppc code, along with the older video monkey (0.8 something i think) and visualhub

videomonkey is what visualhub used to be. since i can't link the file to visualhub, and videomonkey doesn't say which version is ppc compatible, i thought i would do it this way.

videomonkey 0.8 is ppc compatible, anything newer is for intel only.
    it will say "videomonkey-0.8.zip » 8.7 MiB - 98,221 hits - April 8, 2010"

handbrake didn't work? the "0.9.4-MacOSX.5_GUI_ppc"?? wow

i use them and they work fine on my G5.

other than that, the only other thing i can suggest is avidemux (avidemux_2.5.3_Universal) or if you can scrounge up a copy of visualhub 1.34. anything other than that, i wouldn't know

Yes handbrake didn't work. Said it wasn't supported.

Then for Video Monkey i d/l the one you said and when I clicked on add file, i find the file, click on it and nothing happens.

    Man that video was UNREAL!!!!

Thanks so much. So easy to follow.

One thing different was the quality.

Yours went to QP7 and I put mine to 100% and RF10.

Hopefully that works. its converting now.

So once its done converting I just burn that file and VOILA?

    THanks

The video was unreal? Large, yes...
I just edited the video so it's a 10 mg flash video

As for the settings, it was just to show you on what it could do. Other than that, the settings would be up to your discretion.

As for burning, as in a dvd or a file format disc?

You could try toast or burn, or visualhub can take your video and turn it into a burnable dvd format. But since linking applications or anything like that is denied on this forum.

    I did what you said.

    Opend Toast.

Tried to import it in and it said that the movie.mp4 is unsupported format.

    WTF?

    Now what.

I never thought this would be so difficult.

    Handbreak

I have to attest to Handbreak for quick and easy rips on your G5. I use it all the time here on my G5.

I cannot comment further on a putting them in true DVD format, in a few days I am looking to import my movie archive most are .mp4 with custom menus close to what it looked like on the dvd. As long as I can get close in iDVD? I will be happy.
