So I am very new to video editing, and I've just messed around in iMovie just a little bit.

I've got about 11 hours worth of video I shot on my iPhone 8+ that I would like to essentially create a "timelapse"-like video of, or speed up the entire 11 hours worth of video into maybe 5 minutes? The video is of me building a lego set.

Essentially, the effect I want is if you pull up the video in the camera roll, and then scroll through the video quickly. You can see what is going on, and can see it being built quickly.

Is this possible in iMovie? I tried to use the speed up method, and the video becomes unbearably choppy.

Example starting at 3:54:

Thanks!

Is the video choppy after you export it or during playback in iMovie?

I found this tutorial on YT, I hope it helps you:

As e1me5 mentioned above, was it choppy when you exported it, or only when you tried to preview it? It's not unusual that it'll look incredibly choppy when you're looking at it in iMovie, but when you export it, it'll appear like in the example that you posted.
