Hey all,

I was almost set on getting a new cmbp 13" 2.9ghz , 256 ssd, and 16gb ram for traveling and producing short youtube videos (5-10 min) using FCP and adobe premiere. However, I've come to a dilemma between this and the 13" rMBP 3.0 ghz, 8gb , and 256 ssd. I don't particularly desire the retina screen, rather I desire performance. I shoot with a canon 5d mark ii DSLR which uses H264 format.

Any thoughts on which one will suit my needs best?

Thanks a lot for your input!

If you're doing basic home editing I think you will be fine, if you're looking to run the full FCP suite (color, motion, etc.) you may want to get an iMac or the 15".

Apple is not making a new cmbp anymore unless you don't mind buying 2012 cmbp 13" that is fine and if you know how to upgrade more memory and SSD. :apple:

The cMBP is a great machine, but if you're putting in a SSD you might as well pay for the retina screen. Unless of course you need an optical drive or Ethernet.

For travel you might also look into a MacBook Air.
