I'm just learning FCP X and am trying to fade in the start of the video and fade out. The only way I've found so far is to add a transition at the start/end. Is there a way you can adjust the fade curve as it's linear by default? I'd rather it fade in more slowly initially but without adjusting the overall fade time.

    Cheers

You could keyframe the opacity, but there does not seem to be a curve function, thus you have to make a "curve" by adding keyframes yourself.

I will link you to a video showing you how to even use curves, unless you already figured that out, as I got that wrong in my first post.

    Then here it is:

PS: The second keyframe is added via holding down the OPTION key and clicking at the appropriate place in the timeline.
