I was just given an iPod video, and have OSX. I was wondering what the steps are to putting videos onto my iPod?

Download Instant Handbrake (http://handbrake.m0k.org/), insert a DVD or choose from a ripped CD, then hit "Convert." Once it's done, drag and drop the video into iTunes, then drag-drop onto your connected iPod. If you need software to *backup your own DVDs*, check out Mac The Ripper (http://www.mactheripper.org/) for importing DVDs. Both these programs are free and work very well.

Check also iSquint (www.isquint.com).
It's much simpler than Handbrake.

Oh, and obviously, there's also iTunes : when you have dragged&dropped
a video in your library, make a right-click and select "convert for iPod".
