    What is the diffrence between mpeg-4 and h.264? Which is better for archiving dvd's?

    In common parlance, there is a substantial difference. H.264 compresses video about times as much as MPEG-4 at the same quality. However, H.264 is a newer part of the MPEG-4 standard. It is MPEG-4 Part 10. All are built into QuickTime 7. The QuickTime section of Apple's website will give you quite a bit of information on these issues.
