Not having spent any time on my xbox for well over six months, I figured Id give it another go and picked up call of duty black ops yesterday.

I think FPS are awesome, and felt a little but of queasiness CODMW2 but it was not anything that would make me want to curl up into the fetal position. After spending a mere 40 minutes playing black ops last night I had to put it down because I was starting to motion sick. It is 12 hours later and I still have the feeling of motion sickness...sore of like being stuck on a small boat in rough seas.

It is not only the playing part that leaves me feeling this way, but also the storyline videos in the game, with the "ugly" colors, the flashing transitions, ugh...

Anyone else get this way with certain games?

I don't really play video games anymore (like COD) but whenever I go on after a long period of time now, I feel a bit weird and say "enough" and close it. I'm not dizzy or sick- I'm not sure what it is ... but I just feel like getting off.

You should see your physician about this - especially if you get nausea in other situations with flashing lights. These might be symptoms of something else.

It could be just motion sickness from the constant motion and shaking of the video. Perfectly normal, IMO. ;)

When I saw Black Swan at the cinema, I almost vomited. Throughout the movie, I was feeling dizzy and nausea. I wasn't really 'dizzy', but I had the same sensation you get when you drink too much and feel woozy.

I cant play FPS games. After aboot 20 minutes, I get motion sickness.

I have never handled first-person shooters very well. Especially once they started to simulate the little "bounce" in your step when you walk forward. I can watch other people play them, for a while, but if I try to play, within about 10 minutes I am feeling dizzy and ill.

Watching my brother play CoD 4 makes me sick.

I think part of that has to do with not being in control - when you are controlling the movement it is much less unexpected (duh!).

How big is your TV? How close do you sit when you're playing?

Its a 42" LED. I sit about 8 feet away.

I was actually feeling sick from this stupid game for 24 hours, up until I went to bed last night...

Someone else mentioned going to see a doctor about it, I might follow up on that advice. Ive always felt a little queasy playing FPS's, but never for 24 hours.

In any case, I'll probably be selling my while xbox outfit to prevent a repeat of this episode!

Stick to Nintendo & fun games. I cannot stand all these ridiculous HD war/violent games - they have lost the fun element YEARS ago. Retro arcade & PacMan are best. Oh, and Mario is TOP NOTCH!!

Xbox? PS3? Ugh! no, ya okay thanks

I don't get this feeling with Black Ops when I play, but I know exactly what you are talking about.

I went to go see Casino Royale in the theater while at college with my ex-girlfriend. About 30 minutes into the movie I was feeling nauseous. 1 hour I was trying to breath normally to keep myself from vomiting. And, at the end of the movie, I got up from my seat and almost fainted.

She took me to the ER and they said I was having some sort of an anxiety reaction to do with my eyes. They blamed it on these 3 things.

1. Sitting too close to the movie screen
2. "Shaky" video camera use (hasn't bothered me on any other movies)
3. Newish prescription (had them for 2 months, but hadn't gone to see a movie in theaters with them at the time)

Motion sickness has never been an issue for me, I can play mw2 all day on a huge tv, watch the Bourne trilogy in 3d IMAX, read fine print while riding in a car or literally spend the entire day on roller coasters after eating chili cheese dogs without ever feeling sick, but 10 seconds of smelling fresh vomit and I'm ready to blow chunks myself. :p

Like the previous posters suggested, you might want to get checked out to see you're not having a bad reaction to the flickering lights of the game.

Had a lot of trouble with Mario Galaxy for this reason. It slowly got better(largely due to the change of location)

Not sure that will really happen in COD, sorry to say.

I remember watching one of the Bourne movies in a packed theatre where the only free seats were front row, extreme right corner. I only made it partway through the movie before my entire group felt sick, we had to leave. The movie was full of "shakycam" shots and no one cut seemed to last more than a couple of seconds.
