As a non-case guy, the new screen glass is a game-changer! Despite always keeping my phone in a separate pocket away from keys etc and trying to baby it, I've always accumulated scratches large and small on prior phones. It was once so bad (12Pro?) that FaceID stopped working from accumulated fine scratches!!! Well, that's all in the past. My 17Pro DOES NOT HAVE EVEN A SINGLE VISIBLE MICRO-SCRATCH on the screen or elsewhere. Yes, IRL I've accidentally dropped it couple times on wood floors in my home, kicked it across the floor during a build project, had it fall to the ice several times ice fishing, and even had it go airborne during a snowmobile crash. It's still in perfect condition. Sure, the cameras and performance are way better than my 14Pro, but nothing compares to having a well-used caseless phone still look pristine -- love it!

It was a stroke of genius on Apples part to go cheap with materials for iPhone 17 reverting back to soft malleable aluminum.

I skipped the TiPhone, although I still cherish my old Seven Ti bike that looks great after some 50K tough miles. That said, the 17Pro aluminum is NOT soft. If it were, a couple of the insults that my 17Pro has sustained would have left visible, tactile marks. Instead, I am thrilled that it still looks brand new! It has proven to be the most durable iPhone I've ever own — by far.

I like everything but the weight. I am still hoping for some kind of air phone with zoom/wide lenses.

I heard the iPhone 19 will be Helium-filled.

Drop-tests of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max show that their front and back glass are much tougher than in prior models. So for people still leery about the scratchability of the aluminum housing, a simple lightweight skin-type case should do the trick without adding much bulk.

I'll consider switching from an iPhone Pro Max to an iPhone Pro when the screen size of the Pro is as big as the one on the Max.

What’s the reason? Because they are new? Not the end of the world if you use an older one, also fantastic phones and no need to upgrade that often.
Is it because of the titanium stuff? Come on

I heard the iPhone 19 will be Helium-filled.

Remember this is Apple, where everything must be special. They rename almost everything.

Therefore in this example, iPhone 19 is filled with “Magical and Revolutionary Helium”.

I don't understand why people refuse to use a $3 screen protector on their phones. You can barely tell it's there, it feels the same and it will protect your $1,100+ phone from screen scratches... What's the downside? I could understand not using a case because of the added bulk, but a screen protector is a must, no matter how much Apple hypes up the improved glass scratch resistance BS they feed people

it’s weird because the screens should be getting BETTER as they say, not worse lol. even tho there are people with screens that are fine.

idk. the screen protector is pretty discreet, but I really just like/want the feel of the raw phone with nothing at all on it.
