iPod Video Ipod not syncing after restore (no warning message)

Just restored my ipod video, and when i click sync it flashes "Starting Sync" for about a quarter of a second, then goes away. Nothing changes on the ipod screen, and the sync button is still there. Help!

What happens when you hold the select and menu button down while plugged into your computer? Does the disk mount?

Yes, putting it disc mode works. The same issue with syncing happens though
