Not seeing shortcut action that "turns off your phone charger"
Maybe not available on all iPhones?
You will need to attach your chargers to a HomeKit controlled plug, then you can control the plug with an automation.
To be able to trigger using the battery level, you will need to create the automation from the Shortcut App.

I wonder how much extra battery life one would get on a modern iPhone 11/12 when turning everything off that was mentioned in the video? 3%? 5%? I am guessing the gains are small enough to not be worth gimping user experience.

Unfortunately, many people on here gimp their phone so that they can get extra battery life, even though they have access to charging. In mind, there isn't much point in spending $1k on a phone if you are going to turn around and turn most everything off.

I use optimized battery charging and never get that message. Just because the message isn't appearing doesn't mean its not working in the background. Thanks for the big iphone pic.
I don’t think it’s working :(

Final step is to kill apps you aren't frequently using. It's commonly said, even by Apple execs, that those apps aren't truly running and that killing them doesn't change anything, but that's false in many cases. They can start up to handle push notifications, significant change of location, or other subtle things, except when they're killed. Developer docs go into this.

Of course if you want to be more data-driven, you can go look at the battery usage stats, but eh.
"killing" apps not in use is like crashing a computer by unplugging it from the wall. You're FAR FAR better off managing background app refresh for the app to prevent such activity.

Closing apps has not positive effect and the repeated "crashing" of apps can cause unintended secondary issues on your device as little glitches in the settings/data accumulate over time.

Never really ran into battery issues on any of my iDevices in all honesty, I never quite grasped what people were doing that caused their phones to dip so low so often. The only times I have hit the 20% warning were when I was staying out all night drinking and didn't have occasion to plug it in. In a normal day, I don't think I have ever hit 50% nevermind lower and I am still on my iPhone 10.

A few more:
Turn off screen time.
Turn off automatic display brightness.
Turn off equalizer.
Turn off sound check.
Turn off Bluetooth and wi-Fi in the settings app and not in the control center.
Turn off tap to wake.
Don’t run any betas.
Disable notifications on lock screen for a specific apps.
Download music into your phone instead of streaming.
Go into cellular settings and disable any apps that use data over cellular that you don’t need, example games.
Turn off Wi-Fi assist.
Use a standard wallpaper.
Use a new lightning charger cable, if it’s intermittent charging it’ll keep vibrating and making a sound.
Keep screen and sound volume lower.
Quit streaming apps like iHeartRadio and tune-in. They still may be running in the background and start playing later.

Battery life on my 8 plus is abysmal , tried everything , I've given up and will 100% be upgrading when the 13 max pro comes out

Can't Wait :)

100% charge , come down in the morning , it's switched OFF - 60% lol smh

I just wasted 9 mins of my life. You could turn off at least half a dozen more options in Location Services and wouldn’t miss a thing. The video is not thorough and definitely nothing I don’t already know. Unless you only recently started using an iPhone this is useless.

These tips don't make your iPhone last longer, they make your battery last longer.

Since Apple has begun supporting iPhones with six full years of system and security updates, I have just accepted that my iPhone will need one battery replacement midway through its useful lifespan, and count the cost of that replacement by Apple as just part of the basic cost of the device. Even with this additional cost, my pro-rated annual cost of using an iPhone is very reasonable - - an iPhone 6S originally sold for $649 in 2015, plus the cost of an Apple battery replacement for it was $49, for a total of $698 - - divided by 6 years of fully functional use makes the annual cost $116.

For long haulers like me who want to take advantage of Apple's six years of iPhone support, the trick is to not wait too long to get your battery replacement. Since you know that you are definitely getting a second battery, you want to make sure you don't suffer through the dying days of the first battery for the 4th year of ownership, only to not get the most out of your second battery by only using it for two years.

Honestly the best battery preservation advice that few people follow is:
1) Add an extra-long charging cable to the 2-3 places you use your phone the most (sofa, desk, etc.)
2) Always keep your phone plugged in when you're using it there

Doing this has extended the life expectancy of my battery by more than double since you're not constantly discharging it when you could be running off an outlet.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max. Battery life is not an issue. Bigger battery than the 12 and no 5G. I seriously use it as much as I want on whatever settings I want and never have to worry. Its been a game changer for me to never have to worry anymore.

How do you do that?
create an automation in the shortcuts app.

automation -> + -> create personal automation -> charger > is connected > turn low power mode on -> disable „ask when running“

maybe create another one for disabling it when disconnected

Any suggestions to those that use the battery case? I wish it was smarter and didn’t keep the phone at 100% all the time.
