Nothing compelling here. I really would like an 'eraser' on the end of the pencil like the earlier Surface pens. Intuitive and handy AF.
If you have a second gen and want to pony up the $$ for this “upgrade”, then I’d re-evaluate your life priorities
Personally I think it will have “Spring Loaded” functionality much like a real pencil where touch pressure can give more density. And faster response.I don't care about the finish. Tell me if the new Pencil helps get better than 5 millisecond latency. Imagine if apple gets down to like 900 microsecond latency.
Actually, that video was filmed at a CA IN 'N Out burger joint after rolling through the drive thru. The first gen always felt slippery when using it. I like the matte one a whole lot more. Not looking forward to this third gen if this is true. Also looks cheaper in my opinion.
This functionality already exists in apps like Procreate unless I'm mistaken? If I use more pressure on the screen I get a darker, fuller line.Personally I think it will have “Spring Loaded” functionality much like a real pencil where touch pressure can give more density. And faster response.
Less latency.Wonder what new features/functions it will have
AH! Good point, they probably DID add a feature that allows it to rivet. It’ll completely change the construction industry.Riveting! Apple has done it again. Huzzah!
They probably had an eraser ready on gen 1 and purposely withheld it so they could get more $$ on their top line down the road.Knowing Apple they will add an eraser and other upgrades but it will only be compatible with new iPads. If you really want an eraser you will need to buy a new iPad. I hope this doesn't happen.
It’s almost guaranteed that happens. They probably had an eraser ready on gen 1 and purposely withheld it so they could get more $$ on their top line down the road.
I truly think on some of the stuff, when they develop it, the leadership team says at the end “hmmm what can we remove from this and rollout as an upgrade the following year that will lure ppl back?”
