i have an iPhone 8, not iPhone 8+ And it’s running the current iOS.

Is it possible to video record without your screen being on? Spy recording as it’s referred to online.

So you are saying you’re an amateur spy...

Lol ahhh no, just need the ability to possibly document situations if the need arises on the down low. I know there used to be a way to do this with the native camera app, but it doesn’t seem to work anymore and the videos I searched online usually demonstrate this with older phones that do not work with the iPhone 8

I don’t think Apple allows that type of things to be on the AppStore.

Here you go. Record or snap pics with a black screen.

Do you use that app yourself?! The last update to that app seems to have been 4 years ago & there have been only 7 updates in 2 years before that. I’m not too sure it will actually work. Looks like a pet project of a guy trying to learn iOS development.

It works and yes I’ve used it. You can set whatever background you want. I’ve set mine to a black screen. Tap once to take a photo and tap twice to record video. Very simple app. Not sure what else the dev needs to change on it. It also uses swipe gesture for certain actions. It takes you on a tutorial when you first use it.
