on this video

it says its 4k

through testing results i got on macbook air m3
and iphone se 2

1080p is noticabley beter on air but i couldnt tell if its better on iphone se 2

720p both device same, a tiny bit less quality than 1080p

480p less detail a bit

1440p cant tell difference in details

how can i be sure this is a 4k video or photo

cos in other 4k videos i can tell that a higher resoltuion video has more noticable details

If the YouTuber has, for instance, a 720p video that he upscales (without any real changes) to 1080p or higher I don't think YouTube itself has any method to determine that.

I don't know of any method to determine the "true" resolution of a video even if I have it on my Mac.

If you think about it…you could shoot two videos on two different devices with the same exact video settings and they'll look different when zoomed into the same spot.

YouTube is probably not the place to be checking video resolution.

On a 5K iMac screen (from M4 Pro mini) the video has more detail at 2160p than at 1080p.
But there is a shallow depth of field, so edge parts of the face are blurred...
