I ordered a base MBA M2 in Midnight the other day, I can live with the fingerprints by just giving it a quick polish after use. (I'm retired and have plenty of time, well, I hope). I am coming from a 2015 MBP. I cant wait for it to be delivered between the 7th and 14th of Sep.
Yes the finger prints are fun! Midnight looks sooo good tho

At this moment I have a MBP 16” (2019) i7 2,6Ghz with 8Gb RAM.
The main reason I’m not sure to upgrade is the screensize and speed in comparison with the M2… anyone who can elaborate on my dilemma?
your machine is not extremely slow in regular tasks compared to M1/m2. Unless you’re desperate to spend cash , you can wait to upgrade for another year.

@Warieer I think you mean 16GB rather than 8GB, but yes, I had the same dilemma. Ex-owner of Intel 16" MBP here.

@SouthPalito is correct that everyday tasks will be similar on the whole, but the thing that made me sell the Intel machine and wait to see what's coming in Apple Silicon was the heat and fan ramping up very often for moderate to heavy tasks, and generally the inefficiency. The 2019 MBP 16" got excellent battery life by brute-forcing it, coupling an inefficient but powerful chip with the largest battery they could technically get away with on airlines. And for that, the chassis was heavy and the chassis still got hot (because Apple were in thin-and-lite mode back then). The worst of both worlds. While there were things to recommend it, including great peak performance at the time and fantastic speakers, in the end I would prefer a slimmer more portable model, especially as lockdowns lifted, and the M1 Pro and now the M2 Air offer far more everyday efficiency *plus* the power can kick in when necessary for heavier processing tasks. The best of both worlds.

@Warieer think of it like this: if you only occasionally used the power of the 16", the trade-off in getting an M2A might be worth it because you'll get a smaller form factor with a slightly bigger & better screen than the previous gen M1 Air, and the M2 Air will last a long time and be less frustrating. But only if you can get a good price for your 16" on eBay or somewhere. I sold my Intel 16" in anticipation of getting the new M2 Air, but the price (especially in Europe) for a 16GB version really soured me on the idea.

I'm surprised that someone hasn't pointed out all the fingerprints on the keyboard especially the space bar. That actually is more of a problem for me than the Midnight color for picking up fingerprints.
Fingerprints on the space bar. Really?

Sadly I still
Feel m1 pro is all
The round better :)
I just like the substance is it. Thin not too thin. The display !!!
Skeakers, power. It’s sexy

Mine arrived this morning, I am absolutely delighted, the midnight colour looks stunning and tbh, I can live with the fingerprints. I am still at the "wow" phase of a new purchase so will not be able to give an unbiased view. It is better than my early 2015 MBP, I can say with confidence. I am pleased and will update in a couple of weeks.

Just to update, still really pleased. Fingerprints, to be honest are a "no problem," it seemed at first to be a fingerprint magnet but after a couple of times of wiping it, it doesn't seem to be a problem any more.
